Lead Veterinary Surgeon

Sam graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2014 and began his veterinary career working around Cambridge for four years. In 2018, he returned to his home county of Devon and joined the team at City Vets, where he has been a valued member ever since. In 2025, Sam stepped into the role of Lead Veterinary Surgeon.

Sam enjoys all aspects of life as a general practitioner, with a particular interest in canine and feline dentistry. He is based primarily at our Alphington surgery, where he especially values building long-term relationships with clients and supporting them to achieve the best possible outcomes for their pets.

Outside of work, Sam makes the most of everything Devon has to offer, spending time outdoors with his young family. A keen cyclist, he commutes to work by bike year-round and can often be found tinkering with his bikes or heading out on long, hilly weekend rides. At home he has two very spoilt guinea pigs, Rocket and Crunchie.

Although Sam has a real soft spot for cats, he has yet to persuade his wife - who is unfortunately very allergic - that one could join the family. In the meantime, he is working just as hard on making the case for adding a dog to the household!
