City Vets Exeter has four surgeries, conveniently located across the City of Exeter – Alphington, St Thomas, Heavitree and Whipton – all with excellent parking. Each surgery is accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS). This means that the standard of care provided, and quality of our premises are inspected and certified regularly by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons – our governing body. Our Alphington and St Thomas surgeries are also proud to be accredited at Silver Level as Cat Friendly Clinics by the International Society of Feline Medicine. Additionally, St Thomas have the Silver Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund Standard (RWAF) and Heavitree is a Gold Standard RWAF practice.
Our state-of-the-art Veterinary Hospital in Heavitree is equipped with the latest in technology and facilities, enabling us to look after the most critically ill patients and provide them with the highest standard of care, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We have a team of highly experienced, dedicated vets and nurses with additional trainee nurses to support through their learning. Our front of house teams boast a wealth of customer service experience and with animal nursing assistants and pharmacists included, the team here will always aim to provide your pet with the best quality of care. This team has at its disposal the use of an impressive inventory of diagnostic equipment, including high quality imaging equipment, Digital X-ray machines, HD Ultrasound machines, Olympus video Endoscopic and Laparoscopic suites. A comprehensive suite of Idexx blood analysis machines can test a large range of blood parameters within ten to thirty minutes of sampling. We continue to invest in our equipment in order to maintain our status as a leading Veterinary practice in the Southwest.
As well as providing excellent routine medical, surgical and preventative health care for our patients, we are very well equipped to deal with the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of more complex medical and surgical disorders and emergencies not normally undertaken at most Veterinary surgeries. This is because we have Veterinary Surgeons that have undertaken and gained advanced expertise following further training and certification in the fields of: Medicine, Soft Tissue and Orthopaedic Surgery, Exotics, Cardiology, Ophthalmology and Animal Behaviour. We also have Veterinary Surgeons that have particular interests in Dermatology, Dentistry and Pain Management.
We have our own in-house qualified Animal Physiotherapist to help in the recovery and rehabilitation of our patients, should they need it. All the staff at City Vets Exeter commit to CPD – Continuing Professional Development – training in order to keep their expertise up to date and to stimulate and develop further special interests in the rapidly advancing field of Veterinary Science.
