At CityVets, we recognise that it is a very worrying time when your pet is unwell or injured. We accept veterinary referrals from your primary practice in many specialities for companion animals as well as exotic & small mammals.
We aim to make the referral process as smooth as possible for you and your primary practice. We request a formal referral from your vet before we can offer you an appointment. Once this has been received, we will liaise with our clinical team to make a plan of action and compose an approximate estimate of the costs involved, so you will have all the information you need to move forward. Our admin team will contact you to arrange an appointment, ensuring we hold enough time should further investigations be indicated.
You will bring your pet to see a specialist in their field, surrounded by qualified support staff and state-of-the-art equipment. This means your appointment may take longer than normal, and your pet may be admitted for further investigations; we will inform you of their progress and account balance regularly.
CityVets requires a deposit to be paid for all referrals before the arranged appointment. (For Exotic & Small Mammals, this is the Specialist Referral Consultation fee of £175). We expect all referral clients to pay at the time and are happy to complete any relevant insurance paperwork for you.
It would be best to consider how to travel with your pet to CityVets safely. For Exotic & Small Mammals, we advise you to bring any of their favourite foods and consider bringing their companion to reduce anxiety if applicable and ensure you bring a heat source for reptiles.
